Booking
How do I book Kid Boogie Down?
Start with the Check Your Date form. Tell us your date, event type, and about how many kids, and we reply within 48 hours. From there we talk through music, themes, and details together. Your date is locked in with a signed agreement and a 25% deposit. The deposit is nonrefundable.
How far in advance should I book?
The sooner, the better. Most clients book two to three months ahead, and weekends fill fast, especially in fall and the holiday season. October is our busiest month. If your date is closer than that, check it anyway. We’ll tell you right away if we can make it work.
How much does a kids party DJ cost in Milwaukee?
Every event is different, so we price each one to fit. Crowd size, event type, and the add-ons you choose all shape the quote. School and library parties start at $650 for two hours. Tell us your date, event type, and headcount and we’ll send a clear quote within 48 hours.
Is there a minimum booking?
Yes. Every Kid Boogie Down party is a two-hour minimum. Setup and teardown are on us and don’t count against your time.
Do you offer discounts for schools and libraries?
Yes. Schools, libraries, and community organizations get our best rates. Mention your organization on the Check Your Date form and we’ll quote you accordingly.
What's your cancellation or weather policy?
A 25% deposit holds your date and is nonrefundable. If you need to cancel for any reason other than weather, please give us at least one week’s notice. We’ll keep the deposit plus any expenses already incurred for your event. If you’d rather reschedule, we’ll move your booking based on availability and with written approval, and your deposit will apply to the new date. If we can’t agree on a new date, it’s treated as a cancellation. For outdoor events, the rain plan is yours to set, and we’ll work with you to make sure the show can still happen. If you call it off because of weather or road conditions, we keep the deposit. If we have to call it off for the same reasons, you get the deposit back in full.

What's included in a Kid Boogie Down party?
Every party includes a live DJ with pro sound, party lights, our signature bubbles, and a crew that leads games and dance-offs. Add-ons let you build it up: video DJing with music videos on screen, a Hype Team member, uplighting, expanded lighting, black lights, and fog. Mix and match on our Parties page.
What makes Kid Boogie Down different from a regular DJ?
We’re a dance party built for kids, not a DJ who plays kid songs. DJ Lukewarm mixes music videos, lights, bubbles, and effects into one show, and our crew is on the floor leading games and dance-offs. Parents dance too. That’s why families, festivals like Summerfest, and TMJ4 keep inviting us back.
Do you do themed parties?
Yes. We run our own ticketed theme parties around Milwaukee, like our Halloween Dance Party, Glow Party, K-pop Party, and Noon Year’s Eve, and we can bring a theme to your event too. Popular requests include K-pop, Taylor Swift, glow, and seasonal shows.
Do you play music videos?
Yes. Video DJing is part of our Full KBD Experience and Signature Production packages. DJ Lukewarm syncs music videos and visuals to the music on screen, which keeps kids locked in and makes the party feel like a show.
How many people come with the DJ?
Most events get at least two people: DJ Lukewarm on the music and a crew member on the dance floor. Want more energy? Add a Hype Team member to lead games and dance-offs with the kids. It’s an optional add-on with its own fee. Bigger shows bring a full team.
Music and Ages
What ages is Kid Boogie Down for?
All ages. Our parties are built for kids and the grown-ups who bring them. Toddlers, big kids, tweens, parents, and grandparents all end up on the dance floor. We read the room and adjust the music and games to who shows up.
Is the music appropriate for kids?
Yes. DJ Lukewarm hand-picks every song, from classic disco and funk to today’s pop hits, and checks the lyrics so everything stays family-friendly. We play clean versions only. Parents never have to worry about what comes out of the speakers.
Can we request songs or send a playlist?
Yes. Send us your must-plays and do-not-plays at least one week before the event, and we’ll build them into the set. Kids can shout out requests during the party too, but day-of requests aren’t guaranteed. DJ Lukewarm decides what fits the room and keeps every song family-friendly.
Is it too loud for little kids?
We run the sound for the room and the crowd, not for a nightclub. Little ears are part of every party we play, so the volume stays at a level families are comfortable with. Kid-size ear protection is always a good idea for babies and toddlers.
Space, Setup, and Venues
How much space do you need?
Not much. Our setup needs a space about 8 feet wide by 4 feet deep, plus a clear area for the dance floor. We fit gyms, community rooms, library spaces, stages, and backyards. Tell us about your space on the Check Your Date form and we’ll plan around it.
What do you need from the venue?
Three things: at least one dedicated power outlet near the setup area, a flat spot about 8 by 4 feet for our gear, and access to load in about an hour before start time. If parking or an elevator is tricky at your venue, let us know ahead of time.
Can you do outdoor events?
Yes. We play festivals, park events, trick-or-treat trails, and holiday light kickoffs across the Milwaukee area. Outdoor shows need power and a covered setup area. We ask the venue to provide a tent or shelter so the gear stays dry. See our cancellation and weather policy above for rain plans.
How long does setup take?
About an hour. We arrive roughly an hour before start time to set up and sound check, and teardown takes about an hour after the party ends. Setup and teardown never count against your booked time.
Schools, Libraries, and Festivals
Do you do school dances and family fun nights?
Yes, and they’re some of our favorite events. We run elementary school dances, family fun nights, PTO fundraisers, end-of-year parties, and library programs across the Milwaukee area. Everything is clean, high-energy, and built so parents and teachers can enjoy it too.
Can you handle a large crowd or festival stage?
Yes. We’ve played the Northwestern Mutual Stage at Summerfest, Zoo à la Carte, Harley-Davidson’s Pumpkin Party, and city events across Wisconsin. Tell us your crowd size and we’ll bring the right sound and crew for it.
Do you work with cities, venues, and companies?
Yes. We partner with cities, parks departments, shopping centers, attractions, and businesses on public family events and company family days. If you book family entertainment, we’d love to talk. Reach us through the Contact page.
Are you insured?
Yes. Kid Boogie Down is fully insured, and our coverage travels with us to events across Wisconsin. Schools, cities, and venues often ask, and the answer is always yes.
Private Parties
Do you do birthday parties?
Yes. We bring the full Kid Boogie Down show to birthday parties and family celebrations, and we treat them like the big events we play. Because our show travels with lights, bubbles, and a crew, private parties are a premium booking. Check your date and we’ll send a quote.
Can you come to my house or backyard?
Yes, as long as there’s room to dance and a power outlet. We need about 8 by 4 feet for our setup, plus space for the kids to move. Backyard parties work great in warm months. Indoors, a cleared living room or basement works for smaller groups.

Do I need tickets for your parties?
For our own theme parties, yes. Tickets are sold through Eventbrite and linked from the event on our Events page. Community events hosted by cities, parks, and venues are usually free. Each listing shows whether admission is free or ticketed.
Where We Play
What areas do you serve?
We’re based in Milwaukee and play across southeastern Wisconsin, including Waukesha, Brookfield, Wauwatosa, and Franklin. We also travel for the right event, including Oshkosh, Kohler, Chicago, and the northern Illinois suburbs. Travel outside the Milwaukee area is priced into your quote.
Who is Kid Boogie Down?
Kid Boogie Down is a Milwaukee family dance party company founded in 2017 by DJ Lukewarm and Miss Lan, a Milwaukee couple with kids of their own. DJ Lukewarm has been DJing for 25 years. You may have seen us on TMJ4 or at Summerfest. Meet the crew on our About page.
